Intense clashes erupted in Miranshah early Friday after terrorists killed a prominent tribal leader, Malik Saifullah Khan Dawar. Retaliatory action by tribesmen later resulted in the killing of nine terrorists.
According to sources, unidentified people opened fire on Malik Saifullah Khan Dawar outside his residence, killing him on the spot. Local sources said that tribesmen launched a strong retaliatory response, leading to a full-scale armed confrontation between terrorists and armed members of the Darpa Khel tribe.
The clashes continued for several hours, with both sides reportedly using heavy and automatic weapons. Residents said that attackers had been surrounded at multiple locations, further complicating the situation. During these clashes, tribesmen killed at least nine terrorists and apprehended several others.
Three tribesmen were also martyred, while several others sustained injuries. The wounded were immediately shifted to the Miranshah Headquarters Hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Following the violence, fear and panic spread across the area. Markets in Miranshah and nearby localities were shut down, and residents remained confined to their homes.
Members of the local tribe also took control of certain mosques and houses in the area that terrorists were allegedly using. Sources said Malik Saifullah, along with tribal elders, expelled armed men from the premises of a mosque they had occupied a day earlier, leading to the elder’s killing.
Local elders warned that the killing of Malik Saifullah Khan Dawar could further destabilize the region, noting widespread anger among tribal communities. They urged the government to take immediate notice of the situation and implement effective measures to restore law and order.Latest News, Breaking News & Top News Stories | The Express TribuneNasruminallahRead More
