K-P announces four-day public holidays for Eidul Azha

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government on Saturday announced May 26-29 (Tuesday to Friday) as public holidays across the province on the occasion of Eidul Azha, according to a notification.

“All offices, educational institutions, and businesses observing public holidays will remain closed on the notified dates,” the notification said.

A day earlier, Sindh also announced four holidays, while the federal government had announced only three holidays on the occasion, from May 26-28 (Tuesday to Thursday).

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee had previously announced that the moon of Zilhajj 1447 AH had been sighted in the country, adding that Eidul Azha would be observed on May 27.

Putting a damper on the happiness of the occasion, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on May 21 warned that a heatwave was likely to grip large parts of the country during the Eid holidays, with temperatures expected to rise significantly above normal in several regions.
