Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has said that eradication of polio remains the government’s top priority, adding that all relevant departments are working with a strong national commitment to eliminate the crippling virus.
He expressed these views during a meeting in his office with Dr Nahad Sadr Azodi, a representative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, who was briefed on ongoing anti-polio efforts in the metropolis.
The commissioner informed the Gates Foundation representative that out of 12 high-risk union councils, environmental samples from 10 had tested negative, calling it an important development for future planning.
