Seven cops in Kasur face action over fake encounter

The Lahore High Court (LHC) was informed on Friday that seven police officials, including an inspector, accused in an alleged fake police encounter in Kasur have been suspended and are facing departmental proceedings.

Justice Farooq Haider was hearing a petition challenging the continued deployment of the officials despite their alleged involvement in the case. The court had earlier sought reports from the Kasur District Police Officer (DPO) and the Regional Police Officer (RPO).

In a report submitted to the court, the DPO stated that all seven officials had been suspended and placed on the close line at the District Police Lines, Kasur, pending completion of departmental proceedings.

The suspended officials include Inspector Hassan Imran and Sub-Inspectors Muhammad Tariq, Muhammad Sadiq and Mansab, among others.

The report further stated that Sub-Inspector Tariq Mahmood had already been suspended in connection with another criminal case registered at Raja Jang Police Station. A criminal case was registered against the officials over the alleged custodial killing of a citizen in Kasur on July 19, 2024.

The petition was filed by Advocate Muhammad Irfan, who questioned the posting and continued deployment of the officials despite the pending criminal proceedings against them.Latest News, Breaking News & Top News Stories | The Express TribuneOur CorrespondentRead More
