Over 320 BBQ points sealed in smog season

The Punjab Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has sealed 321 of 450 barbecue points inspected across Lahore as part of efforts to curb air pollution during the ongoing smog season.

According to Lahore EPA Deputy Director Ali Ijaz, notices have been issued to 305 barbecue units for violating environmental regulations.

As a result of the enforcement drive, suction hoods have been installed at 359 BBQ points. Additionally, fines totaling Rs550,000 were imposed for breaching environmental laws.

The official said no barbecue point would be allowed to operate without proper suction hoods and filtration system.
