Police deny fake CCD encounters

The Punjab Police has rejected allegations of fake police encounters involving the Crime Control Department (CCD), declaring them false, baseless, and driven by social media rumours.

The police submitted a detailed written report to the Lahore High Court (LHC) in compliance with directions.

According to the report, the establishment of the CCD has led to a significant decline in major crimes across Punjab. Within seven months of CCD operations, property-related crimes reportedly dropped by more than 64 per cent, while incidents of robbery and murder declined by around 60%. The police claimed that the number of robberies had declined by 69% last year as compared to 2024.

Cases of street crimes dropped from around 41,000 to 18,608, marking a 62 % decline.

The report stated that vehicle snatching had decreased by 64%, car theft 60% and motorcycle snatching 53% to 4,628.

Cases of robbery-cum-murder declined from 170 to 96.Latest News, Breaking News & Top News Stories | The Express TribuneRana YasifRead More
