The fourth round of negotiations between the Balochistan government and the Quetta sit-in committee ended on Thursday with both sides reporting progress toward resolving the impasse over the recent Ziarat terrorist attack.
During the meeting, the protest committee presented its final list of demands following detailed discussions. The government delegation assured participants that the proposals would be forwarded to Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, who will review them before the provincial government issues a formal response.
The government team was led by Home Minister Mir Zi-aullah Langau and included Provincial Ministers Mir Sadiq Umrani, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Mir Saleem Khosa, Mir Asim Kurd Gello and other senior officials.
The protest committee comprised representatives of political, nationalist and religious parties, along with family members of the policeman martyred in the Ziarat terrorist attack.
Sources familiar with the meeting said the talks were held in a constructive atmosphere, with both sides discussing the demands in detail. Although no final agreement was reached, participants described the negotiations as positive and expressed optimism that a mutually acceptable solution could be achieved in the coming days.
The Quetta sit-in entered its eighth day on Thursday, with protesters reiterating their demands for justice for the victims of the Ziarat attack, accountability for those responsible and stronger measures to improve public security.Latest News, Breaking News & Top News Stories | The Express TribuneSyed Ali ShahRead More
