K-P outlines security, political roadmap

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan, alongside Provincial Minister for Au-qaf Adnan Qadri, addressed a press conference Thursday to outline the provincial government’s legisla-tive agenda, security strategy, and political roadmap, while also weighing in on recent controversial statements by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Shafi Jan stated that martyrs belong to everyone and are a source of pride for the nation, urging Maula-na Fazlur Rehman to refrain from issuing statements of a particular nature. However, he emphasized that no one could question the JUI-F chief’s patriotism.

The information minister announced that the consensus Madaris Bill would soon be presented to the provincial assembly for approval, which he said would resolve most issues facing religious institutions across the province.

Addressing the upcoming political mobilization, he revealed that the party leadership would formally release the schedule for the August 5 protest movement in the coming days. The date marks three years since the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

In a notable departure from previous party positions, he expressed agreement with Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s recent remarks about Parliament, stating that the legislature had been reduced to a “rubber stamp.” He characterized both the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as two sides of the same coin.

“The matter should now be concluded here, and the series of press conferences on this issue should also come to an end,” Jan asserted, signaling a desire to move beyond the recent verbal sparring.

Earlier in the press conference, he explained that weekly press briefings were being held regularly on the instructions of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to present the performance of various provincial government departments before the public. He claimed such consistent press briefings were unmatched by the fed-eral government or other provinces, suggesting they lacked comparable achievements to showcase.Latest News, Breaking News & Top News Stories | The Express TribuneOur CorrespondentRead More
