Kerosene cut, light diesel surges

The government has revised petroleum product prices, reducing the price of kerosene while significantly increasing that of light diesel.

According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), the price of kerosene decreased by Rs4.45 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs360.76 per litre.

In contrast, light diesel oil became costlier by Rs17.03 per litre, with the new price set at Rs287.54 per litre. The adjustment reflects fluctuations in international oil markets and exchange rate pressures, impacting domestic fuel pricing.

Amid a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz due to the Iran-US conflict, the government on Thursday increased the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs19.39 per litre and the price of petrol by Rs6.51 per litre for one week.

HSD will now sell for Rs399.58 per litre, up from Rs380.19, while petrol will be available at Rs399.86 per litre compared to the previous rate of Rs 393.35, reflecting an increase of Rs 6.51 per litre.

HSD is widely used in the transport and agriculture sectors. With the sowing season under way, the increase in its price is expected to negatively affect the agriculture.Latest News, Breaking News & Top News Stories | The Express TribuneOur CorrespondentRead More
