Police are continuing their investigation into the murder of Mir Raza Ali, a young resident of PECHS and a student-entrepreneur, whose body was found in Gulistan-e-Jauhar earlier this week.
According to officials, the victim had left his residence on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, using an online taxi service and went missing shortly afterwards. His body was discovered on Wednesday in a hilly area of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 1.
District East police, along with the Crime Scene Unit, visited the site and surrounding areas to collect evidence. They recovered the victim’s iPhone from around 200 metres away from the crime scene, near the Naseer Tower apartments. The device is password-protected, and efforts are underway to unlock it.
Police also found a pistol pouch at the crime scene, which investigators suspect may be linked to the weapon used in the murder. Search operations in nearby bushes are ongoing to recover further evidence, including the firearm.
Investigators have obtained the victim’s call data record (CDR) and are examining more than 50 associated phone numbers. Officials said that a route map is being developed with the help of the CDR, while CCTV footage from various locations is also being reviewed. Police claim that more than half of the case has been traced through mobile data analysis.
Statements have been recorded from the online taxi driver, the victim’s business partner, and other individuals connected to the case. Police have also summoned the victim’s fiancée for questioning.
Police Surgeon Dr Samia Syed said the body showed no signs of torture or burning. She confirmed that the victim was killed by a single gunshot to the chest, with the bullet exiting from the back. The body had begun to decompose, and blood samples from the victim’s clothes have been sent for chemical analysis.
Mir Raza Ali, a resident of PECHS Block 2, was not only an IBA student but also an entrepreneur who had been running his own business for the past five years. He owned outlets under the name “Wafflex” in Bahadurabad and North Nazimabad and was known for expanding his business through innovative ideas.
The victim’s family has demanded swift justice, urging authorities to ensure that those responsible for the killing are brought to book.Latest News, Breaking News & Top News Stories | The Express TribuneOur CorrespondentRead More
