Security forces killed several terrorists during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s (K-P’s) Lakki Marwat as part of the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, state media reported on Tuesday, citing security sources.
According to the sources, security forces also destroyed multiple terrorist hideouts during the operations, with a large cache of weapons, ammunition and other equipment recovered from the slain terrorists.
The sources added that several terrorists belonging to the Fitna al-Khawarij were also reported to have been wounded during the operation. Fitna al-Khawarij is the term the state uses for terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The operations were conducted with measures in place to ensure the safety of civilians and prevent any harm to the local population, the sources said. They also noted that security personnel would continue operations across K-P until lasting peace is established and terrorism is completely eradicated.

In a statement released by the Interior Ministry, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi lauded security forces for carrying out intelligence-based operations, praising their professionalism.

Naqvi commended the security forces’ professional capabilities and bravery, saying Pakistan’s “brave sons” had acted swiftly to eliminate multiple terrorists in Lakki Marwat and foil their “nefarious designs.”
He said the entire nation appreciated the security forces’ successes in restoring peace in K-P. “The nation stands united against terrorism and firmly supports the security forces,” Naqvi said.
Earlier on Tuesday, security sources said multiple terrorists were killed and several hideouts destroyed during intelligence-based operations in Lakki Marwat. A cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered, while reports indicated that several other terrorists were wounded during the operation.
The IBOs came two days after a suicide bombing outside Kabal Police Station in Swat left 17 people dead, including seven police personnel. 27 others were left injured. The attacker reportedly attempted to enter the police station but detonated explosives at the main gate after being stopped by an officer.
Following the attack, the K-P government ordered a full-scale operation against terrorists and reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace in the region.
10 terrorists were also killed in separate IBOs across the province under Operation 11 Gurj on August 2. On the same day, security forces killed a key terrorist commander, identified as Muawiya, the mastermind behind the Hangu check post attack, during an IBO in the Chapri Naryab area of K-P’s Hangu district.
On July 30, nine policemen, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Diyar Khan, were martyred while 28 others, including DSP Mujahid Hussain, were injured after terrorists attacked a police check post in Hangu district. Police killed 15 terrorists and wounded several others in a retaliatory operation.

Last week, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said security forces had conducted 40,348 IBOs across the country so far this year, with the majority taking place in Balochistan. He noted that nearly 194 IBOs were being conducted every day.
The DG ISPR said 3,145 terrorist incidents had been recorded during the period, while security forces had killed 2,084 terrorists, averaging about 10 terrorists killed every day. He added that 819 people had embraced martyrdom this year, including 303 personnel from the Pakistan Army, 194 law enforcement agencies and 322 civilians.
He further said there had been 28 suicide bombing incidents this year, adding that the majority of the suicide bombers were Afghan nationals.
Comparing the figures with previous years, the DG ISPR said security forces had killed 2,597 terrorists during the whole of 2025, while 2,084 had already been killed so far in 2026.Latest News, Breaking News & Top News Stories | The Express TribuneWeb DeskRead More
